Sofia Andreou

Sofia Andreou grew up in a Greek family in Toronto and started freelancing as a web developer while still at university, mostly building WordPress sites for local businesses. By her mid-twenties she'd moved on to full custom application development and had run out of patience with shared hosting — too slow, too restrictive, too many unexplained 500 errors at the worst possible moments.

She taught herself Linux server administration out of necessity, not ambition, and that practical foundation is what defines how she approaches VPS hosting today. She doesn't set things up to be clever. She sets them up to not break at 11pm on a Friday when a client's WooCommerce sale is live.

Over nine years she's migrated dozens of WordPress sites from managed hosting to self-managed VPS, built and deployed SaaS applications in Node.js and Django, and standardized her freelance clients' infrastructure on Docker to make handoffs and updates less of a nightmare. She's opinionated about stack choices — not in a tribal way, but because she's been burned by the wrong choices enough times to have real preferences.
